These
days many teenagers are using caffeine to stay awake. Caffeine is a
mild stimulant that works in the nervous system and muscles. There
seems to be many benefits, but there are negative effects too.
Teenagers ignore the long terms effects because they need a quick
boost.
Caffeine is found in drinks such as coffee, energy drinks, and soda. The body’s level of intropin increases when caffeine is taken. Teenagers use it to stay awake late at night to study or finish their homework. Caffeine keeps a person awake because it increases the heart rate and blood circulation. It also intensifies the brain activity, therefore resulting in quicker response times and a better short-term memory.
However, there is negative side to caffeine use. Most of these effects are more prominent in non-users than those who take caffeine daily. While the short-term memory is improved by caffeine use, the long term isn’t helped at all. In fact caffeine affects memory keeping. Also, caffeine isn’t even required in a human diet from the body to function properly.
If a person drinks coffee for their boost, doctors recommend no more than two cups per day. Doctors also advise, if possible, to stop caffeine use all together. There’s no point in consuming caffeine because in the end, the negative effects outway the benefits.
